Membership
Membership with Pilates Aotearoa is the best way to demonstrate you’re operating to our industry-leading standards and ethical code of conduct.
We will be launching individual memberships in June 2024, with facility memberships coming soon.
Individual membership
During the initial phase of establishing the membership, we are not running a formal accreditation process but rather an informal approval system of certain relevant qualifications for Pilates. The aim is to create an all-inclusive Pilates community for Aotearoa before we introduce varying levels of recognition after the first 12 months of membership.
All Individual Members will be required to submit proof of their Pilates qualification or certification, and will be granted a “Provisional Individual Membership”. After 12 months, members will be asigned a level reflecting their qualifications and experience.
Facility membership
Elevate your Pilates business’s potential and reputation by aligning with industry-leading standards and ethics, and equip your business with a full set of tools to help your business and staff to succeed.
Our Facility Members will go through an informal audit process to make they are adhering to the Code of Ethics for Facilities and will use its best endeavours to have all staff (contractors and employees) registered as Pilates Aotearoa members (discounts will apply).

Being an Individual Member with Pilates Aotearoa gives you:

- Toolkit for Pilates professionals (includes Health and Safety guidelines, intake waiver forms and templates soon to come)
Individual memberships are launching in June!
To celebrate we have special launch pricing:
- Join now, and your first annual membership will be extended until September 30, 2025
- Our standard joining fee of $57.50 is waived until October 1st, 2024
For our launch, individual membership is only $197 for 12 month+ membership (provisional), including insurance. This represents a $110.50 savings on a standard first time application.
Students studying a Pilates certification are FREE for their first 12 months.
Eligibility & Obligations
In order to uphold standards of safety and teaching, Pilates Aotearoa requires its Individual Members to:
- Abide by the Pilates Aotearoa Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics
- Maintain a valid First Aid Certificate (containing NZQA units 6401 and 6402).
- Engage in Continued Professional Development (CPD), gaining 10 CPD points annually.
Please have a copy of your initial qualifications/training certificates and First Aid Certification – scanned copies or clear photo. Other evidence can be considered such as references, referees, confirmations from education providers.

There are two plans – Basic and Full. The Full costs less in cash investment because it requires a “product” donation.

Insurance
Pilates Aotearoa require all of our members to hold comprehensive liability insurance (including professional indemnity, public liability, and statutory liability). If you are employed, your employer will cover you. If purchasing your own insurance, you may do so privately or you can choose to purchase our insurance, which we are able to access at highly discounted rates as it is offered in bulk to all Pilates Aotearoa, YogaNZ, and REPs exercise professionals.
