Membership
INITIAL PHASE
During the initial phase of establishing the membership, we are not running a formal accreditation process but rather an informal approval system of certain relevant qualifications for Pilates. The aim is to create an all-inclusive Pilates community for Aotearoa before we introduce varying levels of recognition after the first 12 months of membership.
All Individual Members will be required to submit proof of their Pilates qualification or certification and will be granted a “Provisional Individual Membership”
6-12 MONTHS
There will be ongoing consultation with industry around the membership criteria while we build the membership and offerings. For example, the criteria for accreditation will vary between a Fitness Pilates Instructor (Reformer) and a Comprehensive Pilates Method Teacher.
12-18 MONTHS
Individual Membership Accreditation will have been finalised, and members will be grouped accordingly. During this phase, members may have to supply more information on current qualifications or skills gaps.
18 MONTHS+
Refine and link with our Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme and audited Pilates education providers.

Being an initial Individual Member with Pilates Aotearoa gives you:

No joining fee for the first 3 months
Membership from only $97 for 12 month membership (provisional). Students studying a Pilates certification are FREE for the first 12 months.
EXAMPLE OF ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA POST 2023
| Fitness Pilates Instructor | Mat 120+ hours experience |
| Fitness Pilates Instructor | Reformer 200+ hours experience |
| Pilates Method Teacher | Level 1: 450+ hours experience |
| Pilates Method Teacher | Level 2: 1000 + hours experience / 2 – 10 years minimum of teaching. |
| Pilates Method Teacher | Level 3: 3500 + hours experience / 10 + years minimum of teaching. |
Please note, this is not required for Individual Membership at present.
Facility membership
Facility members will be approved on a case by case basis and go through an informal audit process.
By agreeing to become a Pilates Aotearoa facility, you will also be agreeing to adhere to the Pilates Aotearoa Code of Ethics (a separate Code for Facilities is still to be developed in consultation).
A PA Facility will use its best endeavours to have all staff (contractors and employees) registered as PA members (discounts will apply).
As part of its support for the organisation and industry, Facility Members will be required to offer product donation to the public.
It’s most likely that Memberships are your primary product. We are happy to receive alternate products for those that do not sell memberships as long as it is your primary product. e.g. Concession Cards, Private Sessions.
