Bio

I am Doug, originally from Brazil but have been in New Zealand for over 20 years now. My journey with Pilates started a few years back, on and off, and intensified during Covid when I was doing classes more regularly. I started teaching my partner and friends some of the exercises I learned in class and that sparked the idea of learning the exercises properly and how to teach them.So, I enrolled at Polestar Pilates New Zealand in 2024 in the Comprehensive Course and I am currently working towards my qualification and preparing for the final exam hopefully by the middle of 2025.I am not sure where this new career will take me, but I believe I will be comfortable doing semi-private studio sessions.My journey as a student also gave me insights and ideas of how I can potentially help other students from all different schools to practice, learn and gain the best development they can during their journey.I am excited to be part of Pilates Aotearoa, to learn and contribute to the industry development.I have a background in health and safety, food safety, environmental compliance and if that helps our studio owners, they can reach out for some support.

Teaching Location

I am currently practicing Pilates at Polestar Pilates New Zealand in Ponsonby, Auckland.
